About This Spot
Martino's Upstairs invites you into a quietly refined corner of Ashland’s dining scene, where the pace slows just enough to savor moments and flavors without feeling rushed. It’s a place where neighbors and visitors alike can settle in for an easy meal, whether it’s a pause before a nearby show or a relaxed night out. The dining area maintains a quiet stillness, encouraging conversation and reflection without the noise of a bustling crowd.
The kitchen takes its time here, focusing on dishes with a homestyle heart wrapped in Italian tradition. Plates arrive with a comforting sincerity—think hearty lasagna that speaks of slow afternoons in a family kitchen, or seafood linguine that carries a vibrant, coastal freshness balanced by rich, creamy textures. The bar offers simple pleasures too, whether it’s an Italian soda with a fruity twist or a perfectly crafted margarita, complementing the food without overwhelming it.
Martino's Upstairs feels unhurried, approachable, and consistently welcoming—a spot where attentive service quietly supports the experience, even if the rhythm isn’t swift. The patrons here are drawn to its understated charm and the chance to gather in a space that sits comfortably between the casual and the special.

Great meal and atmosphere. Kitchen is slow though. Give plenty of time if going to a play or activity after. Reservations are a must.

I've tried both the upstairs and downstairs and both were about equal. Friendly greetings, decent cocktails, varied levels of service and attention but all friendly. The main dish was good in all cases but bread was dry and seemed old or reheated. Did not try dessert since our mains were substantial for the average person. The atmosphere is nice, nothing outstanding but your typical italien-ish decor with a few years on it perhaps. I will go again when the timing is right.

Quiet dining room. Helpful servers. The food was good. Nothing spectacular but solid/good.

Nice view from outside patio next to the theater. Drinks were ok. Lasagna also was meh!! Seafood linguini was good. Too much cheese. Service was slow.

Visiting out from California. Seeking some good food. Found Matino's around the corner from the Shakespeare Festival campus. The staff is very attentive, helpful and professional. The upstairs in the name is literally need to walk up the stairs, but next door is the street level restaurant location. Go up the stairs, enter into the door, the first thing you see is their full bar and their bar stools. They have inside seating as well as outside dining (roof dining). The food review: the menu selection is unique. Their menu have the titles of each category in Italian from Appetizers, Soups, Salads, main dishes, desserts and of course a separate drink menu (Alcohol, spirits, ect.). I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken (the options are just pasta, or add Chicken or Prawn . There is spaghetti and Meatballs and Lasagna. The bread served as complimentary and you mix the olive oil with Balsamic Vinegar to dip in. The red (out of Oregon) and the white wine (Italy) were a great pair between our dish selections. Had the Mud Pie and coffee for dessert. The coffee is a perfect match with the Mud Pie to top off the dinner experience. I will have to give this a deserving 5 stars rating, aside the fact that this business DOESN'T HAVE a Military Discount. The wait staff did provide a SHAKESPEARE Discount and thanked me for my Service.
